Senior batsman Mohammad Yousuf has been recalled to the Pakistan squad for their One Day International series against the West Indies in Abu Dhabi later this month.

Yousuf, who was not considered for a Twenty20 four-nation tournament in Toronto last month, has been included in a 15-man squad for the matches on November 12th, 14th and 16th.

The squad also includes fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal, whose exclusion from the side last month led to the resignation of chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed.

Selectors have also recalled Nasir Jamshed after the opener recovered from a bout of malaria.

Khalid Latif, Anwar Ali and Sohail Khan, who all made the trip to Toronto, were left out of the squad.

Former Sri Lanka and Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore has signed a two-year contract as Pakistan's new head coach, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed. Pakistan quick bowler Mohammad Talha has been ruled out of the rest of the Test series against England with a back injury. 23-year-old right-armer Talha was left out of the opening Test, which Pakistan won by ten wickets in Dubai, and the spinal disc injury means he will miss both the second Test in Abu Dhabi and the third match in Dubai.
Pakistan's Mohammad Asif is set to appeal against the seven-year ban handed down to him by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his part in the spot-fixing case. Asif was banned from all cricket activities along with his compatriots Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir after being found guilty of breaching the ICC's anti-corruption code and was later jailed for one year following a trial by jury in England.
A report in Pakistan claims that jailed fast bowler Mohammad Asif has replaced his legal team and is set to launch an appeal against his conviction for conspiracy to cheat and conspiracy to accept corrupt payments. Asif was jailed for one year, along with team-mates Salman Butt (30 months) and Mohammad Amir (six months) after being found guilty of both charges.
Fast bowler Wahab Riaz has been left out of Pakistan's Test squad to tour Bangladesh and has been replaced by Mohammad Talha. Riaz, along with discarded wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal, was one of the players mentioned during the recent spot-fixing trial that saw Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt handed custodial sentences for their part in a spot-fixing plot.
Having filed appeals against the lengths of their custodial sentences, former Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt will have their cases heard on Wednesday, 23rd November. Butt was found guilty of conspiracy to cheat and conspiracy to accept corrupt payments and was jailed for 30 months while Amir pleaded guilty to the same charges and was handed a six-month sentence in a young offenders institution.
