Monty Panesar Cut For Sports Personality Award

Although Lewis Hamilton is red hot favourite at 1/10 for the BBC TV Sports Personality of the Year Award, Monty Panesar has jumped into the reckoning after more impressive bowling statistics against the West Indies, and William Hill have cut his odds from 20/1 to 14/1 joint third favourite along with Andy Murray, with Frankie Dettori 9/1 second favourite.

Hills have also opened a book excluding Hamilton, in which they make Dettori 6/4 favourite ahead of Panesar, at 7/1, with Murray a 9/1 chance.

"Hamilton is a very worthy favourite but punters should remember that at this time last year not one of the eventual first three of the Sports Persoanlity of the Year Award - Zara Phillips; Darren Clarke and Beth Tweddle - was being remotely considered." said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Latest William Hill BBC TV SPORTS PERSONALITY OF YEAR odds.....1/10 Hamilton; 9/1 Dettori; 14 Murray; Panesar; 20 Beckham; 25 Hatton; Pietersen.

BETTING WITHOUT HAMILTON....6/4 Dettori; 7/1 Panesar; 9/1 Murray; 10/1 Beckham; 14/1 Hatton; Pietersen.
