South Africa have recalled fast bowlers Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn to a full-strength squad for the One-Day International tri-series in Zimbabwe that also includes Australia.

Both players were rested for the three-match ODI series, which South Africa won 3-0, also resting AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla for the final game.

Kyle Abbott and Mthokozisi Shezi, who came into the squad in place of Morkel and Steyn, retain their places in a 15-man squad while Marchant de Lange misses out.

Beuran Hendricks was also included in the original ODI squad but pulled out due to injury and also misses the tri-series.

"I think we covered our bases pretty well," Faf du Plessis, who stood in as captain for the third ODI, said.

"The bowlers were solid throughout the series and so was our batting, there weren't any blow ups. Luckily we are getting Dale (Steyn) and Morne (Morkel) back and we are coming against strong opposition in the form of Australia.

"When you play a team like that you have to be on top of your game; it's nice for us from a confidence point of view to have dominated Zimbabwe in the last three games."

South Africa ODI squad: AB de Villiers (captain), Hashim Amla (vice-captain), Kyle Abbott, Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, Ryan McLaren, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Aaron Phangiso, Rilee Rossouw, Mthokosizi Shezi, Dale steyn
