Tour game, Northampton, day one
Scorecard
Abhinav Mukund scored a century and there were some welcome runs for VVS Laxman and Suresh Raina as India reached 327 for seven against Northamptonshire on the opening day of their tour game.
Mukund made 113, Laxman 49, Raina 33 and Amit Mishra an unbeaten 48 as India managed to pass 300 - something they had not managed to do in the Test series, which they trail 2-0.
They did not start well as the newly-reunited opening partnership of Virender Sehwag (8) and Gautam Gambhir (18) were together for just seven overs and both fell to leg-before decisions to Dave Burton and David Willey respectively.
Mukund and Laxman then steadied the inningswith Mukund hitting 18 fours in a fluent innings while Laxman faced 70 balls. Mukund retired to allow Raina a chance to get some runs under his belt and he responded by making 33 in 43 deliveries.
There was, however, to be no return to form for captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who made just two before he was caught by David Murphy off Luke Evans, who also dismissed Raina.
Wriddhiman Saha (15) and Zaheer Khan (12) were the other men to fall before Mishra's 48 in 101 deliveries took India past the 300-mark alongside Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, who made 15 not out.
