Mushtaq Ahmed Cleared To Play For Sussex In 2008

Sussex County Cricket Club had announced that Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has been given the go-ahead to play for the county in the 2008 season.

After weeks of uncertainty SCCC received a second No Objection Certificate this week which is required to fulfil the ECB registration requirements due to Mushtaq’s involvement in the Indian Cricket League.

Gus Mackay, Chief Executive, commented: “The necessary paperwork for the ECB has now been completed and Mushy will return to Sussex this season. We were always confident he would be okay but it has been a nervous wait so we are very happy that his registration has now been completed.”

Mark Robinson, Professional Cricket Manager, said: “After weeks of waiting we are pleased this is all over and we can get on with finalising our preparations for the season and defence of our title, of which Mushy will obviously play a key role.”
