Mushtaq Ahmed To Undergo Further Knee Surgery

Sussex County Cricket Club have confirmed that leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed will be having surgery on Monday to determine the extent of injury to his right knee.

Mushtaq has suffered a fresh cartilage tear but has been told he will not know the full extent of the injury until the operation has been carried out.

There are two most likely scenarios: that the tear is extensive and precariously placed, this would mean that Mushtaq would be out for the summer or that the tear is a new but minor one, meaning that Mushtaq would be back in time for the LV County Championship game against Lancashire at Old Trafford on August 6.
