Sussex opener Chris Nash has signed a one-year contract extension with the club, which will see him remaining on the south coast until at least the end of the 2014 season.
The 28 year-old right-hander enjoyed a prolific 2011 season in all competitions and is now an established and senior player in the Sussex batting line-up. He scored almost 2000 runs in all formats last year, as well as taking 27 wickets with his underestimated off-spin; form which was enough to earn him a place in the England Lions side for three matches to take on Sri Lanka A.
“I am of course delighted to have signed an extension to my contract, as I have played here since I was seven years old, so to still be here is something I am very proud of,” said Nash, “With the players we have in our squad, our work ethic and the brilliant support we receive from everyone involved with Sussex, we are all excited about what we can achieve over the next few years.
“From a personal point of view I need to continue to score heavily in all forms to help Sussex win trophies and to push my claims for further honours. This is alongside the hard work I am putting in on my bowling to add further strength to my game.”
Sussex’s professional cricket manager Mark Robinson added: “We’re delighted that Chris has extended his contract. He has become a very reliable part of the team in all forms of the game. He is somebody we are looking to build the club around long-term.”
