Nel Set To Start In Northamptonshire Match

Essex have named a 12-man squad for their LV County Championship match against Northamptonshire at Northampton, starting on Wednesday.

South Africa fast bowler Andre Nel is set for his first appearance of the season for Essex as he begins a six-week stint with the County.

The 29-year-old is due to arrive in England on Tuesday and will head straight to the Midlands for a return to action against his former county.

Graham Napier, fresh from his three wickets against Hampshire Hawks in the Friends Provident Trophy on Sunday, makes his first appearance in the Championship squad this season after recovering from an elbow injury (visit the Essex CCC website at www.essexcricket.org.uk later today for an interview with Napier on his comeback).

Fellow all-rounder Ravinder Bopara also comes into the four-day squad for the first time this season after featuring in the ICC Cricket World Cup for England.

Andy Flower (hip) and Grant Flower (hamstring) remain unavailable.
