New Balance, a global leader in athletic footwear, is proud to announce its continued status as Lancashire’s County Cricket Club’s official partner for the 2010 season; the third consecutive year New Balance has been named as the club’s official footwear supplier.
Commenting on the arrangement he helped to renew, Liam Burns, Head of Business Development, EMEA Region, for New Balance, speaking from Cumbria, where the shoes are being produced, said: “We are naturally thrilled, especially myself, as a Lancastrian and a fervent LCCC supporter, to be providing footwear for Lancashire County Cricket Club, who will be welcoming world-class overseas players Australian all-rounder Simon Katich and West Indies Test batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul this coming season”.
He continued: "Cricketers at this level are on their feet all day and need the best footwear and we are delighted to continue to supply the team and coaching staff with New Balance performance shoes. I do find it particularly satisfying that the shoes worn by Lancashire have been made for them at our Cumbrian New Balance factory in Flimby. Top quality British made shoes for a top British cricket team.”
Finally adding: “I would also like to wish my home county every success in 2010 and we hope our successful partnership continues for many more seasons to come."
In reply, Mike Watkinson the former England all-rounder, who was instrumental in the Lancashire’s successes in the 1990s, and is now the county's Director of Cricket said: “Looking after your body and avoiding injury is vital as a sportsman.” He continued: “New Balance provides Lancashire County Cricket Club with high performance footwear that not only looks good but is durable and extremely comfortable: exactly what a cricketer requires to keep at the top of his game.”
New Balance has also provided Lancashire County Cricket Club with a hand-crafted bespoke shoe for this coming season.
