New Contracts For Lewry And Kirtley At Sussex

Sussex CCC is pleased to announce that Jason Lewry and James Kirtley have agreed new one-year contracts at the club.

Jason Lewry, 37, was Sussex’s leading wicket taker in the County Championship with 41 dismissals at an average of 30.09. Jason’s one-year contract will be specific to four-day cricket as he embarks upon his 16th season at the club, having made his debut in 1994.

James Kirtley, 33, has predominantly figured in one-day cricket over the past couple of years, but is still viewed as a valuable member of both one-day and four-day squads. James finished Sussex’s leading wicket taker in 2008’s one-day competitions, taking 16 wickets at an average 33.06.

Mark Robinson, Professional Cricket Manager, said: "It’s great to have these two seasoned campaigners on board for another year.

"James’ proven expertise in one-day cricket, of which there are three competitions, and his desire and hunger still to make a mark in four-day cricket, makes him a valuable member of our squad.

"In Jason we’re lucky to have one of the best new ball bowlers in the country still with us along with his appetite to win further trophies."
