Batsman John Sadler has signed a new one-year contract with Derbyshire which will see him take on the role of second team captain in the 2010 season.
Yorkshire-born Sadler, who moved from Leicestershire in time for the 2008 season, played only three first-class matches for Derbyshire in 2009 although he did feature prominently in the One-Day side.
He averaged 35 in the NatWest Pro40 and an impressive 41 in the Twenty20 Cup and was only once dismissed in the LV County Championship, finishing the season with an average of 71.
Head of Cricket John Morris said: “It is important that we have continuity and having John Sadler primarily captaining the second team will help us continue to bring on our younger players.”
