New Sussex Deal For Matt Prior

Wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Prior has signed a contract with Sussex that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2009 season.

Sussex's cricket manager Mark Robinson, commenting on the deal, said:

"It has taken a little longer to finalise as Matthew has been away at the ECB Academy and in Australia,'' said Sussex's cricket manager Mark Robinson.

"Matthew has played a huge part in our recent success and I am convinced he will play an even bigger role in the next few seasons.

"He has already achieved so much at the young age of 24, and despite not being picked in the World Cup squad I am sure he is on the verge of becoming the next England wicketkeeper.

"We are sure that he will achieve his international ambitions whilst playing for Sussex.

"Matthew has come through our system, knows the club inside-out, and we are looking for him and the likes of Michael Yardy to lead us to more honours in the future.''
