New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have named former international cricketers Stephen Boock as their new President at their 118th Annual General Meeting.

Boock was on the NZC Board between 2002 and 2011 having played first-class cricket for 17 years, in a career that saw him represent the Black Caps in 30 Tests and 14 ODIs between 1978 and 1990.

He is currently involved at board level with three separate businesses and a number of non-profit organisations.

The AGM also approved Greg Barclay as a Director, replacing Brent King while current NZC Chairman Chris Moller was re-elected.

Life memberships were conferred on former NZC President Denis Currie and former NZC Board Chairman Alan Isaac.

Central Contracts For Four New Zealand Women

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have given one-year professional contracts to Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, Sian Ruck and Sara McGlashan as the first women to earn such deals. The contracts are part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between NZC and the New Zealand Cricket Players' Association (NZCPA) and will allow the players to train full-time.

New Zealand Name Women's Squad

New Zealand have named a squad of 26 women ahead of a busy 2013-14 season which includes home and away series against the West Indies and the ICC Women's World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. The team travels to the West Indies in October and before that will take part in a number of training camps, the first of which will be in May.

Guptill, Gillespie, Vettori Return, Ronchi Called Up

Fit-again Martin Guptill is included in both New Zealand's squads to face England in May and play in the Champions Trophy in June as Mark Gillespie also returns to the Test squad, Daniel Vettori to the ODI squad and Luke Ronchi is called up for the first time. Guptill missed the Test series against England at home with a combination of hamstring and thumb injuries, the latter of which required surgery.

A recovering Jesse Ryder has sent a message of thanks to those who have supported him in the aftermath of his assault in Christchurch earlier this week. He suffered multiple injuries and was placed in an induced coma after being attacked following the end of Wellington's domestic season.
