New Zealand have named a strong team to take on the touring Pakistan side in a three-day warm-up game, which begins in Whangerai on 2nd January.
The squad is bolstered by a number of players who have also been named in the Test squad with that series getting underway on 7th January in Hamilton.
Trent Boult and BJ Watling are the only players in the team who aren't in the Test squad while the selectors will add one more player, bringing the team size up to 12, after Auckland and Central Districts name their sides for the HRV Cup Final.
“We have selected an experienced side with the core of the team from the New Zealand Test squad," selector Glenn Turner said.
“This match will provide good preparation, especially for the likes of Tim McIntosh, Daniel Vettori, Chris Martin and Brendon McCullum who haven’t played cricket in a while.
“Trent Boult is a young bowler with considerable promise and he gets another chance to impress at a higher level.
“We will add another bowler to the team when the Auckland Aces and Central Stags sides are confirmed for the HRV Cup final.”
Both teams will use 12 players during the match.
New Zealand won the Twenty20 International series between the two sides 2-1.
