Newby And Smith Back But No Loye For Lancashire

Lancashire Lightning welcome back seamers Oliver Newby (side strain) and Tom Smith (thigh) for tomorrow’s Friends Provident Trophy match at Derbyshire, but unfortunately batsman Mal Loye has been ruled out suffering from a Groin Strain. Loye sustained the injury during his innings of 77 against Durham last Sunday, and he is currently receiving treatment from the club’s medical team.

Andrew Flintoff (side strain), Glen Chapple (groin) and Dominic Cork (back spasms) are still unavailable for selection.

Stephen Cheetham retains his place in the squad following a solid limited overs debut last weekend, where he finished with figures of 2-39 off 10 overs.

Change to starting time

Play will begin at 1.30pm – an hour earlier than the scheduled time – to allow for an extra hour to be sanctioned in the case of sun stopping play. This floodlit encounter is, therefore, scheduled to finish at 9.15pm, but this could be extended to 10.15pm in the event of sun stopping play.
