Hampshire wicket-keeper Nic Pothas has been ruled out of any cricket for two to three weeks after undergoing an emergency appendix operation.

He was diagnosed with appendicitis having been suffering with stomach pains and was operated on successfully at Southampton General hospital.

He is expected to miss the remaining Friends Life t20 matches against Essex, Surrey, Sussex and Middlesex as well as the LV= County Championship clash with Sussex from 11th to 14th July.

Pothas has taken 25 catches and effected three stumpings in all competitions this season, also scoring three Championship half-centuries.
