India have named a 15-man squad for the three-match One-Day International series against South Africa and that squad does not include established players Harbhajan Singh, Gautam Gambhir or Yuvraj Singh.
Off-spinner Harbhajan will miss the first two matches due to personal reasons, Gambhir has a groin strain while Yuvraj is still nursing a wrist injury that has kept him out of the Test series.
In their places, uncapped spinner Ravi Ashwin and all-rounders Yusuf Pathan, who has been in stunning form in domestic cricket in recent weeks, and Abhishek Nayar, who has been no less impressive, particularly during the Duleep Trophy, have been called up.
Jaipur will host the first match on 21st January before games in Gwalior (24th January) and Ahmedabad (27th January).
India ODI squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Ravi Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik, Zaheer Khan, Virat Kohli, Praveen Kumar, Amit Mishra, Abhishek Nayar, Ashish Nehra, Yusuf Pathan, Suresh Raina, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Sudeep Tyagi
