North To Make GCCC Debut Against Notts
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club are pleased to announce that Australian cricketer, Marcus North will be available to play for the County in April.
The Club plans to play Marcus on 25th April in the first home 4 day LVCC match of the season, against Nottinghamshire. It is planned that Marcus will arrive a few days before the match in order to settle in and prepare himself for his debut.
Everyone at the Club are very pleased that Marcus North is to deputise for Hamish Marshall whilst he is at the World Cup. Marshall received a late call up for the New Zealand World Cup squad last week which has delayed his start date at Gloucestershire. It is hoped that Hamish will now make his season debut for the Club in the LVCC match against Somerset in Taunton on 23rd May.
27 year old North is no stranger to English cricket having previously played for Lancashire, Durham and most recently for Derbyshire. A key member of the Western Australia side, where this season he scored an impressive 239 not out against Victoria in the Pura Cup. A left handed batsman and accurate off spinner, he has also played for Australia A.
