Northants Cricket And Weatherbys Onto A Winner

Northants Cricket have got together with Weatherbys to produce a new monthly magazine ‘The Steelback’.

Weatherbys, who are better known within horseracing are no stranger to sports publishing as they produce not only 4 million Racecards a year but also other rugby and cricket programmes for clubs including London Irish and Leicestershire.

Focusing not just on the professionals but also the Northamptonshire Cricket League (NCL) and Northants Women’s Cricket, the magazine will feature the latest news and views, forthcoming fixtures and a preview of the players to watch out for this season. ‘The Steelback’ will also step away from the norm by taking an in-depth look at the lives of Northamptonshire’s cricket stars outside of the game – from how they prepare for big games to what they get up to on their precious days off.

Nick Craven, CEO of Weatherbys Ventures says, “Weatherbys has always endeavoured to be at the forefront of innovation in Racecards and this expertise lends itself to a wider sporting audience. We are delighted to be working with Northants Cricket on producing a new look cricket magazine."

Andy Crook is the magazine’s editor and Marketing Executive for the Club. Also being on the playing staff means he brings a different angle to the magazine’s content.

“We wanted to produce a magazine which gives readers an alternative insight into the county scene. You can find dry statistics and reporting in plenty of places, ‘The Steelback’ takes a ‘fresh guard’ on cricket.”

‘The Steelback’ is available from April to August from the Northants Club Shop, Abington Avenue or online at www.northantscricket.com/thesteelback for just £2.50.
