Northants Turn To Exceptional Solution To Bad Weather

Northants Cricket and Sports and Stadia Services have combined forces to give the 7,000 spectators expected at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes the best opportunity of watching the Twenty20 clash between Northants Steelbacks and Gloucestershire Gladiators on Monday 2nd July.

The dreadful weather has already claimed its first victim with the opening home game for the Steelbacks last Friday and Chief Executive Mark Tagg is determined that this disappointment should not be repeated.

“We are determined to maximize the chances for everyone to watch Twenty20 cricket at Campbell Park as we are for all home games. The groundstaff have worked incredibly hard already ensuring that the pitch is dry but we do have concerns over the outfield with the amount of rain forecast this weekend. We believe that the covering system we have brought in with the help of Sports and Stadia Services will keep the outfield dry over this critical period and this has been a proven success at both Fulham Football Club and the San Siro Stadium”.

This is a piece in the jigsaw which also includes extending the hours of play if necessary from 8.15pm to 8.45pm and bringing in an additional ECB blotter which will help remove service water.

The game is scheduled to begin at 5.40pm on Monday 2nd July.
