Nottinghamshire Bring In All-Rounder Andre Adams
Nottinghamshire have moved to deal with their bowling injury crisis by bringing in New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams for the rest of the season.
Adams will replace David Hussey as the second overseas player alongside his old Black Caps skipper Stephen Fleming and will make his debut in the LV County Championship match against Northamptonshire next Wednesday (August 22).
The 32-year-old has previously enjoyed a successful spell in county cricket with Essex from 2004 to 2006.
Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell said: “Andre is an experienced and capable performer who knows all about the county circuit.
“He actually approached us asking if we were interested given the situation with our bowling attack, and we were delighted to take him up on the offer.
“He knows the area, having had a spell in club cricket with Kimberley, and also knows what will be expected of him having played so many times with Stephen Fleming.”
Hussey has left Trent Bridge to tour Pakistan with Australia A after another hugely successful season for Notts, scoring 1,219 Championship runs at an astonishing average of 93.77.
Adams, who has played 42 One-day Internationals for New Zealand, has picked up 278 first-class wickets in his career at an average of 25.24, and is also a useful performer with the bat, with an average of 25.28.
