Old Speckled Hen Strikes Deal With Derbyshire CCC
Old Speckled Hen, the popular premium ale, has become the Official Beer of Derbyshire County Cricket Club. The agreement, which has been struck in time for the start of the 2010 County Championship season, will see Old Speckled Hen take up the pouring rights at the County Ground.
The partnership is sure to go down well with Derbyshire supporters, who will be able to enjoy a refreshing pint of Old Speckled Hen whilst watching the action from the stands. The region has a strong tradition of real ale drinking and the deal with Derbyshire CCC gives high visibility to this much loved brand. At a time when there is a renaissance of interest in fresh beers from quality English brewers, this deal demonstrates Old Speckled Hen’s commitment to invest in local communities.

As part of the deal, Old Speckled Hen will receive significant branding around the County Ground in Derby including pitch-side boards and inclusion on matchday materials. The Ground is set to host over 40 days of cricket during the 2010 season including six FPt20 Cup matches and, in a repeat of the 2009 Women’s World Cup Final, a Women’s One Day International between England and New Zealand on 15th July.
All eyes will be on The County Ground come 8 – 9 July when Derbyshire play host to Australia, as they warm up for their test series with Pakistan. With the Ashes in Australia less than nine months away this is a great opportunity for the British public to see how the Baggy Greens are shaping up for the visit of England later this year.
Derbyshire County Cricket Club’s chief executive, Keith Loring said: “We are delighted to have Old Speckled Hen on board as sponsor of Derbyshire County Cricket Club and The County Ground for the 2010 season. Cricket lovers are traditionally big ale drinkers and I’m sure the fans will be delighted to have this great brand supporting us over the years ahead.”
Justin Adams, Managing Director of Greene King Brewing Company, said, “There is a clear affinity between cricket supporters and ale drinking and this deal will raise the profile of Old Speckled Hen in a region that appreciates the finer things in life. Good luck to Derbyshire County Cricket Club for the season ahead.”
