Today (Wednesday 9th May), Old Trafford Cricket Ground celebrates its 150th Birthday.

Old Trafford Cricket Ground is arguably one of the UK’s best loved sporting venues, and has produced some of the most memorable events in cricketing history.

Although known mainly for its cricket, Old Trafford has played host to the biggest names in music including Robbie Williams, David Bowie, New Order, Bruce Springsteen, REM and this July, the Arctic Monkey’s will play to over 100,000 people in two sold out concerts.

Old Trafford Cricket Ground is a sporting and entertainment venue that everyone in the North West of England and the UK should be proud of. This special anniversary is something we all should reflect on and enjoy; so here are a selection of photos courtesy of The Pictorial History of Lancashire County Cricket Club.

Lancashire CCC has recently announced plans to redevelop the current site, to ensure Old Trafford remains a centre of sporting excellence for the next 150 years.
