Opening Rose Bowl ODI Washed Out In Sydney
New Zealand Women 100-2 v Australia Women - no result
First One-Day International, Sydney
The opening One-Day International between Australia Women and New Zealand Women was abandoned after just 22 overs were possible in Sydney.
In that time, New Zealand had reached 100 for two as they set about building a platform before the weather intervened.
Lucy Doolan (43) and Frances Mackay (25) had put on 52 for the first wicket either side of a rain shower before Mackay was dismissed by Sarah Coyte and Doolan fell to Erin Osborne.
Amy Satterthwaite was unbeaten on 23 and captain Suzie Bates was yet to score when the rain arrived for a second time.
With Australia leading the eight-match series of ODIs and T20Is 3-0, the abandonment leaves them needing one more win in the remaining four matches to retain the Rose Bowl.
Australia have retained the same squad of players for the second ODI.
Australia Women: Jodie Fields (captain), Alex Blackwell (vice-captain), Jess Cameron, Sarah Coyte, Rachael Haynes, Alyssa Healy, Julie Hunter, Jessica Jonassen, Meg Lanning, Erin Osborne, Ellyse Perry, Leah Poulton, Sharon Millanta, Lisa Sthalekar
