Somerset 207-9 (Hose 59) beat
Middlesex 186-7 (Overton 3-24) by 21 runs
South Group, Natwest T20 Blast, Uxbridge
Craig Overton registered figures of 24 for three as Somerset restricted Middlesex to 186 for seven in a chase of 208 runs to win the South Group Natwest T20 Blast encounter in Uxbridge by 21 runs.
Somerset decided to bat first on winning the toss. Lewis Gregory (37) provided a promising start to the innings with his 22-ball knock but they lost Jim Allenby (3) and Peter Trego (1) early.
Adam Hose (59) joined Gregory in a quick 56 run stand before the latter was castled by Nathan Sowter (3-44) in the eighth over. Hose went on to complete his fifty while James Hildreth (38) played a 19-ball blistering cameo to ensure Somerset posted 207 for nine in their innings.
Middlesex lost both the openers Brendon McCullum (10) and Dawid Malan (7) early. Paul Stirling (39) and Eoin Morgan (33) tried to resurrect the innings but the runs came at a slower rate, increasing the pressure.
James Franklin (25) and Joe Simpson (27) scored at strikerate of over 150 to ease down the pressure a bit but in the end despite a 16-ball cameo from Ryan Higgins (35 not out), Middlesex fell short off the target by 22 runs.
