Pakistan Women 119-6 (Bismah Maroof 48no) beat
Ireland Women 105 (A Iqbal 3-18) by 14 runs
ICC Women's World T20 2014 Group A, Sylhet
Pakistan Women ended their ICC Women's World Twenty20 2014 campaign with a 14-run win over Ireland Women in the penultimate match in Group A.
Bismah Maroof top scored with 48 not out as Pakistan made 119 for six before they bowled Ireland out for 105.
Asmavia Iqbal picked up three wickets as Pakistan beat Ireland for the 11th time in Twenty20 Internationals.
Both sides went into this match having lost their three opening group matches and it was Ireland who made the better start by reducing Pakistan to 22 for three early on.
However Qanita Jalil (20) and Maroof, who faced 45 balls, along with captain Sana Mir (16) helped Pakistan close on a decent score.
Isobel Joyce and Louise McCarthy both took two wickets for the Irish.
Mary Waldron then fell for a five-ball duck but Clare Shillington (19), Joyce (32) and Elena Tice (17) helped Ireland not just recover, but make useful progress towards their target.
However, their Achilles heel throughout this tournament has been their inability to build on good starts from the top order, and here again they were unable to follow through.
Pakistan hit back to reduce them 66 for two to 105 all out in a total of 19.3 overs and they went from 66 for two to 88 for eight, losing six wickets for 22.
Asmavia finished with three for 18, Mir two for 18 and there was a wicket apiece for Anam Amin, Qanita Jalil and Nida Dar.
Eimear Richardson, who made 13, was the only other player to reach double figures.
