Wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel has been named as the Kochi Tuskers Kerala captain for the remainder of the Indian Premier League season.
He takes over leadership duties from Mahela Jayawardene, who has left to take his place on Sri Lanka's tour of England.
It caps a week in which Patel was also named in India's squad to tour the West Indies, where he is likely to open the batting alongside Gautam Gambhir, a role he could fill for Kochi in their remaining matches.
They have an outside chance of reaching the play-offs but must win their final group game against the Chennai Super Kings on 18th May to remain in contention.
Patel has enjoyed a successful season so far, scoring 196 runs at 21.77, taking seven catches and effecting one stumping.
He was also part of the Chennai team that won the tournament in 2010 before he was picked by the Tuskers at this year's auction.
