Peter Such Takes On Full-Time ECB Spin Coach Role

Former England international off-spinner Peter Such has been name as the England & Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) Lead Spin Bowling Coach.

He has been undertaking the role on a part-time basis for the last three years but will now be based permanently in Loughborough.

He will be responsible for coaching slow bowlers selected in the England Lions and Performance Programme squads and will oversee the progress of young bowlers on the England Development Programme.

He will also be aiming to develop spin bowling in the domestic county structure, encouraging the development of spin bowling at all levels.

"We are delighted to appoint Peter Such as National Lead Spin Bowling Coach. Peter is a Level 4 Coach and has been responsible for establishing and overseeing, in partnership with the Brian Johnston Memorial Trust, the work of our specialist spin coaches within County Academies and Emerging Player Programmes," David Parsons, ECB Performance Director said.

"Peter has also been in charge of the delivery of our Level 4 Spin module as well as coaching EPP and Lions Spin bowlers including Danny Briggs, Scott Borthwick and Simon Kerrigan. His monitoring and identification of talented spin bowlers in first class Cricket is highly respected and he’s played a major role in sending our leading young spinners to Sri Lanka to play first class cricket to improve their games."

Hugh Morris, Managing Director - England Cricket, added: "Peter’s appointment is due recognition for the significant contribution he has made to our spin programmes and also re-emphasises the importance  we place   on developing a pool of talented spinners who can  challenge for places in the England team in the future. Peter will be working across a number of our cricket development programmes to progress the art of spin bowling from playground to Test arena."

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that a Cricket Discipline Commission has dismissed Danish Kaneria's appeal against being found guilty of two corruption charges in 2012. Kaneria was found guilty in June 2012 and banned for life by the ECB for two breaches of its Anti-Corruption code relating to a match in 2009.
Former Essex and Kent cricketer Mike Denness, who played for Scotland and captained England, has passed away aged 72 after a long battle with cancer. Denness, a right-hand batsman, made his England debut in 1969, going on to play 28 matches, 19 of them as captain. He played the majority of his career for Kent before moving to Essex in 1977, retiring in 1980.
