Players Report Back For Training

The Warwickshire squad reported back to Edgbaston for training today following a short break over the festive season.
The players began an intensive pre-season fitness and conditioning programme in November with sessions staged at the David Lloyd Club in Shirley on the Edgbaston Colts Ground and within the Indoor Centre.

However, having returned from Christmas they will now take part in a more focussed programme of cricketing activity to prepare for the first match against Somerset on 12th April.

Dougie Brown, Assistant Coach, said: "The level of fitness work undertaken before Christmas has got the guys into great shape and they've certainly maintained these high standards during their short break away from training.

"We want to be the fittest First Class squad and improving our fitness levels will add an extra few per cent to our performances that could make a difference. Taking an outstanding catch or a run out can change the course of a game completely."

Ahead of the new season, the players will again travel to Barbados in mid-March with pre-season fixtures planned against Nottinghamshire, Hampshire and a Barbados XI. Upon returning, the Club face Cardiff MCCU in a three-day game on Friday 6th April ahead of the LV County Championship start against Somerset.
