Puma keep growing in popularity as the years go on. With their state of the art cricket equipment still one of the most modern equipment, they cannot be overlooked when thinking about what equipment you want to buy for the 2008 season. The new range from Puma is the Tribute. The Tribute bat is designed for a no-nonsense classical batsman. With careful selection of English Willow, Puma bats are only created to be the best quality possible. The 6000 models for all bats come with a Carbon composite foam handle that backs up the fact that Puma are moving cricket equipment forward in technology. The Vendetta, yellow, is also new for 2008. It comes with a fully bowed blade with a large profile that allows the largest hitting area possible. The Vendetta is a bat for an all-round player who is an explosive hitter with a light-weight bat. Other ranges are continued again for this season, such as the Ballistic, Atomic and Stealth.
Again Puma make more progress in producing some of the coolest cricket equipment around. Puma have a large range to choose from that is affordable for all different budgets. Puma have restyled all of their equipment for 2008, again making it extremely flamboyant and modern looking. The 5000 range is a good choice of gloves as they provide fantastic protection, comfort and are at the same time very eye catching like the whole of the Puma range. Puma provide youth and men’s sizes in each and every glove to show their depth. Gloves are available in the Ballistic, Vendetta, Atomic, Stealth and Tribute ranges from Puma in 2008. In which all of them are coloured differently and definitely stand out from the traditional cricket gloves around.
Puma retain the same boots as last season with the Stealth and Ballistic range. The stealth range has a bowling boot, Full spike boot and a rubber boot. It comes with new lightweight leather and ventilation mesh, as also a unique cushioning and motion control that reduces the likelihood of injury. This allows the players to maximise their comfort and performance. All Puma boots are available in sizes 7-13.
2008 sees a new design for many Puma ranges of pads, for instance the Ballistic 6000 pads are now green instead of gold. They have a revolutionary styling and construction, designed to be as light weight as possible so that the batsman does not have problems with mobility around the crease while, dual density impact foam is used to cushion the impact of the ball. There is a large variety of pads that can be purchased within every Puma range from the 5000-3000. Men’s and youth’s sizes can be found, depending on what range of pad you select.
Performance players’ shirts come with USP moisture management fabric that helps absorption. The Puma embroidery cat is located on the front of the shirt. New for 2008 is the complete body wear ranges that are Puma’s equivalent of ‘Base Layers’. The purpose of Puma’s body wear is to allow the energy system to improve oxygen delivery to the working muscles. Also the lightweight compression features provide support to the muscles but at the same time allow minimal bulk. Trousers, vests, shorts and t-shirts are also available in the Puma body wear range. They are up for purchase from sizes between small and XXL mens.
With many of the World’s leading wicket keepers endorsing Puma, it is evident that they have some of the best wicket keeping equipment around. Players such as Adam Gilchrist (Australia), Brendon McCullum (New Zealand) and Phil Mustard (England) use the new Ballistic range. The Ballistic 5000 keeper gloves are top of the range and are created so that they conform to ICC regulations. They are naturally shaped so that they increased the catching area. They are made of soft aniline calf leather that has ventilated mesh that decreases the amount of moisture you get in your gloves. Matching 5000 pads are available with an ultra lightweight construction that has dual density foam that absorbs high impact. Other Puma wicket-keeping ranges include the Tribute that is a gold and white colour, which is endorsed by Geraint Jones (Kent). With an octopus suction profile on the grip, these gloves look very modern and allow Puma to lead the way in the wicket keeping range. Sizes for gloves vary, with 5000 coming in men’s, 4000 and 3000 coming in youths and boys.
