The weather continued to cause problems for Headingley Cricket Club this week although they did manage to get a rearranged cup game played on Tuesday against near neighbours Old Leos.
The game was switched to Headingley's Glen Road ground as the Old Leos ground was, as they described it, 'like the Everglades'.
Headingley batted first in the 20-over competition, but the wet outfield and long boundaries made value for shots hard work and only skipper Steve Gilks and Sandy Dutta made any real contribution with the bat.
Afterwards, a well-paced opening stand for Chris Butt and Steve Cobbett took Old Leos to within striking range of a victory and they eventually got home pretty comfortably, but it was a good-humoured contest in challenging conditions.
The Headingley HT20 game fell foul of the weather on Thursday, lovely weather on Friday got both of our grounds back into decent shape ahead of the weekend, and had everyone hoping that the hideous weather forecast was going to prove incorrect.
Sadly it wasn't and Saturday's fixtures fell by the wayside too.
