England v West Indies
Third Test, Edgbaston, day one

The opening day of the third and final Test between England and the West Indies at Edgbaston was abandoned due to persistent rain.

Bad weather frustrated both sides and after early lunch was taken, the day's play was called off at 14:30 GMT (15:30 local time).

England, who lead the series 2-0, were to rest James Anderson with one of Steven Finn or Graham Onions taking his place while the West Indies were expected to hand off-spinner Sunil Narine his debut.
