India have named their 14-man squad for the final Test against Australia, which begins on Friday 22nd March. Mohali century-maker Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out after sustaining a fracture of his left hand and has been replaced by Suresh Raina.
Gautam Gambhir was originally selected as Dhawan’s replacement, having impressed whilst playing for Delhi following his axing from India’s Test side after the series against England last year. However, he was diagnosed with jaundice after undergoing a blood test, hence Raina’s inclusion.
Raina last played for India in Test cricket in September last year against New Zealand and is by no means assured of a comeback in Delhi on Friday. Ajinkya Rahane is favourite to take Dhawan’s place at the top of the order.
India have already secured the series following their dramatic win in Mohali yesterday, but will want to win the fourth Test to complete an historic series whitewash over Australia.
India squad: MS Dhoni (captain), Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Dinda, Suresh Raina, Ishant Sharma.
