Dale Steyn returned career-best match figures of 11 for 60 as South Africa wrapped up a 211-run win over Pakistan on day four of the first Test in Johannesburg.
Having been set an unlikely 480 to win, Pakistan were bowled out for 268 in their second innings with Steyn taking five for 52 to add to his first innings haul of six for eight.
AB de Villiers also matched Jack Russell's record of 11 dismisals in one game when he took the catch to dismiss Umar Gul.
Once Misbah-ul-Haq (64) and Asad Shafiq (56) were dismissed, South Africa tore through the lower order, although Gul made 23 and Saeed Ajmal 11 before Steyn, Morne Morkel (2-89) and Vernon Philander (2-60) proved too much for them.
Pakistan were dismissed for their lowest ever Test score of 49 in their first innings, replying to South Africa's 253 all out. South Africa then posted 275 for three declared thanks to AB de Villiers' unbeaten 103.
This was Graeme Smith's 100th Test as captain and he celebrated with a half-century in the second innings as well as a crushing victory with a day to spare.
The second Test gets underway in Cape Town on 14th February.
