1). Confirm that your public liability insurance will extend to cover a firework display,
2). What restrictions or requirements are imposed in respect of this event.
It is important that you know to what extend you are covered for bodily injury to third party and property damage – official figures show that the number of firework related injuries more than doubled in the five year period from 2009 to 2014.
Normally insurers will want you to have a full risk analysis, and to follow the safety guidelines established by the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
Using a professional pyro technician with their own public liability and professional indemnity insurance is a good idea, as although insurance cover may be available if you decide to let your fireworks off yourselves, you may find that the premiums could be lower if you use a professional.
The great news is that we can provide standalone cover for your firework event if you need it.
