Worcestershire fast bowler Alan Richardson has signed a one-year contract extension that should see him remain at New Road until the end of the 2013 season.

Richardson, 36, joined Worcestershire in 2009 and has taken 39 County Championship wickets this season - in joint second place overall.

"I am really enjoying my time here at New Road and look forward to carrying on my career at such a great Club," he said.

Director of Cricket, Steve Rhodes, added: "Alan is a model professional and a shining example for our young players to follow. To have him whole heartedly running in for Worcestershire CCC once again next year is a tremendous boost for the Club. I have the utmost respect for him both as a player and a person."
