After playing in the first three Ashes Tests against England, Australian pair Chris Rogers and Steve Smith have been given upgraded Cricket Australia (CA) contracts.

CA use a points system to determine contract upgrades and the pair were both confirmed as qualifying for elevated deals on 1st August - the opening day of the third Test at Old Trafford.

Neither player was included in the centrally-contracted list that Australia named last year.

Both players have had their moments during the Ashes series, with a pair of half-centuries apiece and Smith taking three for 18 at Lord's.

Rogers made 52 at Trent Bridge and 84 at Old Trafford with Smith scoring 53 at Trent Bridge and 89 at Old Trafford.
