Ronnie On The Radio

Essex Captain Ronnie Irani will be turning his hand to radio presenting next week when he co-hosts the ‘Hawksbee and Jacobs’ show on talkSPORT.

Irani is filling in for Paul Hawksbee alongside Andy Jacobs on the afternoon show between 1pm and 4pm from Monday February 12.

The former England player will be fielding calls on a variety of sporting issues as well as talking to a whole host of sports stars.

Irani spoke to the Essex CCC website (www.essexcricket.org.uk) about his latest venture in the world of sport:

“I’m delighted to have been given this opportunity and am looking forward to being on the show. Paul Hawksbee’s away for a week so I’ve had a good chat with him about what to expect as well as with my co-host Andy Jacobs, who’s a real character but a Chelsea fan – although we’ll forgive him for the time being on that!

“I did a full winter of radio presenting with Dream FM here in Essex a few years back on Friday nights and absolutely loved it. Now to be invited to do a full-on session with talkSPORT – one of the leaders in speech radio in this country – is fantastic.

“With the advent of i-pods, and other such technology, more and more people are choosing to purely listen to their own music, so speech radio is the future of radio broadcasting. I like a chat with people – whoever they are and wherever they are – and it’s good to bounce views and ideas on sport. I love all aspects of sport and am really excited by the prospect. Who knows where it will lead in the future. I love playing cricket but can’t go on playing forever so I am grateful to talkSPORT for having given me this opportunity.”
