As part of its extensive redevelopment programme, The Rose Bowl, home of Hampshire Cricket, has announced that Compass Group UK & Ireland’s Sport, Leisure and Hospitality business has been awarded the 10 year catering contract for the stadium.

The contract, worth an estimated £50 million over the decade, marks the first time that The Rose Bowl has outsourced its foodservice provision.  Following a hotly contested tender, Compass will provide catering and hospitality to the 25,000 capacity new stadium on match days. On non-match days, Compass will provide catering, hospitality and banqueting for corporate events and private parties.

Compass is already on site, preparing for the transformation of the site when building work gets under way in just a few weeks’ time. The £48 million development of The Rose Bowl just outside Southampton will see it become one of the country’s top cricket stadia and a world-class destination resort.

Glenn Delve, Managing Director, Rose Bowl plc, said, “The Rose Bowl is embarking on a major redevelopment programme which will see it become one of the best Test Match grounds in the world. At the heart of our planning and development has always been the end user of our fantastic new facilities and it is vital that every aspect of the customer experience is first class. With catering being such an essential element of this experience, we are delighted to have partnered with such an experienced and highly regarded company as Compass Group.”

Matthew Thompson, Managing Director, Sport, Leisure and Hospitality, Compass Group UK & Ireland, said, “This is a very exciting time for the Rose Bowl and the extensive redesign provides a rare opportunity to modernise and innovate, competing with some of the top stadia around the world. Compass Group UK & Ireland is delighted to be the chosen catering partner for the Rose Bowl at this important juncture and hope that our broad and deep experience in the sports stadia industry will help to making the Rose Bowl a world class sports and events venue.”

The Rose Bowl is currently awaiting confirmation of the international match programme for 2012 to 2016.
