Queensland fast bowler Ryan Harris has been added to Australia's squad for the second Test against India which begins in Sydney on 3rd January.
Harris, 32, comes into the squad as quick bowler Mitchell Starc and all-rounder Daniel Christian are left out from the 13-man squad which was named for the opening game in Melbourne, which Australia won impressively by 122 runs.
Harris returned home early from the tour of South Africa and missed the two Tests against New Zealand but has now recovered from the pelvis injury that ruled him out of the second Test in South Africa.
All-rounder Shane Watson, meanwhile, is recovering from a calf injury but will not be fit in time for the match.
"It all starts again on 3 January and we’ll go into the game with confidence and momentum," Cricket Australia (CA) National Selector John Inverarity said.
"Ryan Harris has been added to the XI that played in the First Test in Melbourne. Ryan has had carefully monitored preparation, which has gone to plan. Mitchell Starc and Daniel Christian, who were both in squad for the First Test have been omitted but remain very much in our thinking."
Confirming Watson's continued absence, physiotherapist Alex Kountouris added:
"Shane has not fully recovered from his right calf injury and is therefore not available for the Sydney Test. He will continue his rehabilitation and hopefully be available for one of the remaining Test matches."
Australia Test squad: Michael Clarke (captain), Brad Haddin (vice-captain), Ed Cowan, Ryan Harris, Ben Hilfenhaus, Michael Hussey, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, James Pattinson, Ricky Ponting, Peter Siddle, David Warner
