Cricket Australia (CA) have confirmed that Ryan Harris has undergone successful knee surgery having returned home during Austalia's tour of England.

He will now miss the remainder of the tour but will be fighting to be fit for selection when Australia tour India later this year ahead of the Ashes.

“Ryan Harris underwent arthroscopic surgery in Melbourne on Thursday to correct cartilege damage to his right knee. His progress will be monitored in the coming weeks to determine his availability for selection for the VB Tour of India tour in October," CA Doctor Trefor James said.

Harris has played two Tests and 17 One-Day Internationals, taking 41 wickets including three five-wicket hauls in ODI cricket to make himself a key part of Australia's limited overs squad.

He was replaced by uncapped South Australian quick bowler Peter George ahead of the Test series with Pakistan, which begins on 13th July at Lord's.
