Sacriston 1st team made it three wins out of three complete league games on Saturday with a crushing eight-wicket victory over title contenders Brandon.
In all, the match lasted less than 43 overs and was all done before 4pm.
After Sacriston won the toss on an overcast afternoon they inserted the opposition and what a decision it proved to be from captain Ian Hunter.
Brandon were bowled out for 65 in 31 overs with the captain himself taking four for 10 off seven overs.
This was backed up by a good opening spell of two for 24 in nine overs from Graham Hubber and Callum Appleby (2 for 14) before professional Mo Ali burgled two wickets bowling three overs without conceding a run.
The only batsman who tried to work for his runs was opener John Carmedy who scored a gritty 28 off 66 balls, with no other batsman making it in to double figures.
In reply Ali batted through for 33 not out with Daniel Anderson scoring a quickfire 29 off 21 balls to see the hosts win in 11.2 overs. Anderson and Martin Hubber lost their wickets in the process to Hampshire bowler Ruel Braithwaite.
The result sees Sacriston take 20 points from the match and leaves them four points behind top-of-the-table Eppleton and one point behind second-placed South Shields, who lost to South Hetton on Saturday by two wickets.
The next league game sees the club travel to Washington on Saturday 21st June followed by the National Village Cup match on Sunday 22nd June at Northop CC in North Wales
