Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal is likely to miss the first Test against New Zealand, which begins in Hamilton on 7th January, following the death of his father.

Ajmal is set to return home after his father passed away on Tuesday in Lahore and is unlikely to return in time for the start of the series.

In his nine Test matches to date, he has taken 33 wickets while he has taken 44 wickets in 35 One-Day Internationals in addition to 41 wickets in 29 Twenty20 Internationals.

Pakistan began the tour with a 2-1 Twenty20 International series defeat and following the three-match Test series, they play six One-Day Internationals - the squad for which is yet to be named.

Earlier this week, Ajmal was also named in Pakistan's 30-man preliminary squad for the 2011 World Cup, which begins in February.

Pakistan In New Zealand 2010-11
Jesse Ryder blazed his way to 107 in 93 balls to set up a consolation victory for New Zealand over Pakistan in the sixth and final One-Day International in Auckland. New Zealand claimed a 57-run victory after scoring 311 for seven and then dismissing Pakistan, who claimed the series 3-2, for 254.
Ahmed Shehzad scored his maiden One-Day International century to set up a series-clinching 41-run win for Pakistan over New Zealand in the fifth match in Hamilton. Shehzad made 115 in 109 balls as New Zealand posted 268 for nine and they then dismissed New Zealand for 227 inside 47 overs to move into an unassailable 3-1 lead in the six-game series.
New Zealand have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the fourth One-Day International against Pakistan in Napier. They went on to lose the match by two wickets, and bowling their overs too slowly meant they ended one over short of their target.
Misbah-ul-Haq's calm and collected unbeaten 93 guided Pakistan to a two-wicket victory over New Zealand in the fourth One-Day International in Napier. Pakistan overhauled New Zealand's score of 262 for seven with an over to spare with Misbah holding the innings together as wickets tumbled at the other end.
Mohammad Hafeez hit 115 as Pakistan hit back to level their six-match One-Day International series against New Zealand with a 43-run win in the third match in Christchurch. Hafeez's innings helped Pakistan post 293 for seven and New Zealand then closed on 250 for nine and the series remains locked at 1-1 with three games remaining.
The second One-Day International between New Zealand and Pakistan in Queenstown was abandoned due to rain after just 4.2 overs of play were possible. Pakistan had raced to 31 without loss, with openers Mohammad Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad on four and 25 respectively, before heavy rain descended.
