As Lancashire are all set to host one of the teams in the new Women's Super League, Sale Cricket Club are doing their bit to raise participation among girls in the area.

The club are working with local schools and community groups to deliver taster sessions, encouraging girls to join the club.

Coaching and Development Officer Mike Sambell has been on the road, visiting local primary schools delivering girls only taster sessions to introduce them to the game.

Last week, year six girls from Moorlands, Tyntesfield, Cloverlea, and St Josephs Primary Schools came together for a special coaching session at Sale High School, supported by their year 10 GCSE P.E students.

There are two further taster sessions - on Sunday 28th February and Sunday 20th March - at Sale High School, and both are free of charge from 5-6 pm.

Meanwhile, the club's winter coaching programme begins on 24th January at Sale High School, open to both boys and girls. Under 9s and Under 11s begin at 3pm, Under 13s and Under 14s at 4pm - cost is £2 per session.

Senior nets get underway on 28th January at Sale Grammar School from 7.45pm. New members are welcome.
