Salman Butt Out On His Own After Run-Fest

21 April 2008
More than 400 runs in the Pakistan-Bangladesh One Day International series has seen Salman Butt take a clear lead in the Cricket World® ODI MVP Ratings.

His rating of 68.6 sees him replace compatriot Shoiab Malik at the head of the table while there is daylight between him and the chasing pack, led by Graeme Smith, Sachin Tendulkar and Brendon McCullum.

Shahid Afridi, who is becoming more and more of a threat with his leg-spin than his explosive batting, just makes it into the top ten overall with a rating of 32.3, which is almost all due to his bowling.

That however, is enough to see him top of the ODI Bowling rankings, overtaking Andre Nel, and compatriot Shoaib Malik, who drops out of the reckoning.

Salman Butt is well clear in the batting ratings while Mohammad Yousuf drops from second to ninth after a relatively lean time of things with the bat.

Unsurprisingly, no Bangladeshis made an impact, although Shakib Al Hasan's century in the fourth match helped him into 11th place (batting) and Mashrafe Mortaza finds himself in 22nd place (bowling).
