Comilla Victorians 170-4 (Liton 65) beat
Sylhet Sixers 145-7 (Sabbir 31) by 25 runs
42nd game, Bangladesh Premier League, Dhaka
Half-centuries from Liton Das and Marlon Samuels followed by a three-wicket haul from Graeme Cremer helped Comilla Victorians finish the league stage with their ninth win in 12 games in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League.
As a result, Comilla will head into the play-off as the top ranked team and will face Dhaka Dynamites while Sylhet finish fifth.
Sylhet won the toss and decided to bowl first. The decision proved right as Comilla lost Jos Buttler (3) and Imrul Kayes (7) early but Liton (65) struck three boundaries and two sixes to take the total to 44 for two in the powerplay.
The onslaught from Liton continued as he struck another six and four in the seventh over but Samuels (55) took time to settle at the other end as Comilla managed just 15 runs in the three overs to reach 69 for two at halfway mark.
Just as the run rate was dipping, Liton hit two more sixes and a four in the 13th and 14th overs to complete a fine half-century but eventually fell in the 15th over with score reading 120 for three.
Samuels shifted gears in the end overs hitting three boundaries in four deliveries to reach his fifty while an 18-ball cameo from Shoaib Malik (28 not out) proved handy as Comilla posted 170 for four in the 20 overs.
Sylhet never looked comfortable in the chase despite losing just two wickets by the halfway mark. Andre Fletcher (25), Babar Azam (20) and Sabbir Rahman (31) all got starts but failed to carry on big as Sylhet could manage just 145 for seven in their innings.
Cremer (3-15), Hasan Ali (2-35) and Mahedi Hasan (2-31) were the wicket-takers for Comilla.
