Tour game, Kolkata, day two

Sanju Samson scored a brilliant 128 off 143 deliveries as the tour game between Indian Board Presidents XI and Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in Kolkata ended in an anticipated draw.

Sri Lanka declared their innings with the overnight score of 411 for nine. The visitors decided to open with the part-time option of Dimuth Karunaratne (0-7) and Lahiru Thirimanne (2-22) and Tanmay Agarwal (16) capitalised on it by starting the innings positively.

Thirimanne proved more than handy with the new ball as he accounted for both Agarwal and Akash Bhandari (3) in quick succession but Samson (128) and Akash Bhandari (35) steadied the innings.

The duo shared 68 runs between them and it was Samson who was going at a healthy strike-rate with a decent amount of boundaries. Jiwanjot fell in the 31st over while Rohan Prem (39), Bavanaka Sandeep (33 not out) and Jalaj Saxena (20 not out) all had a decent hit out.

Though Samson looked in a different league and even went on to complete the century. His innings had a total of 19 boundaries and a six but fell in the 62nd over bowled by Sadeera Samarawickrama (1-13). Indian Board President's XI managed a score of 287 for five in 75 overs as the game ended in a draw.
