Saqlain Mushtaq Rejoins Surrey
Former Pakistan international spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has joined Surrey, signing a two-year deal having left Sussex in late September.
Saqlain, now English-qualified, played for Surrey between 1997 and 2005, playing a part in winning three County Championship titles before a knee injury forced him to take a break from the game.
Sussex offered him a chance to play in 2007, and in four matches he picked up 18 wickets, before he was released at the close of the season.
Surrey cricket manager, Alan Butcher said: “It is with great pleasure that we welcome back a Surrey legend.
"Saqlain, as Surrey fans know, is a proven international quality spinner. To be securing his services as a local player is a huge bonus and I can’t wait to watch him weaving his magic in 2008.”
Saqlain played in 49 test matches and 169 one-day internationals for Pakistan between 1995 and 2004, and also represented Ireland in the C & G Trophy in 2006.
