ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 5th place play-off

Scotland finished the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in fifth place after they beat Canada by four wickets in a last-ball thriller in Dubai.

Richie Berrington led the way for Scotland by taking two wickets and then top scoring with 47 as they successfully scored seven runs from the final over.

Harvir Baidwan had earlier top scored with 21 as Canada posted 135 for eight before Scotland closed on 136 for six.

Berrington, Majid Haq, Jan Stander and Moneeb Iqbal all took two wickets to keep Canada's batsmen under pressure.

Berrington then hit 47 in 37 balls to get Scotland's reply off to a flyer but a brace of wickets from Junaid Siddiqui kept Canada in the game.

Kyle Coetzer (22), Stander (21) and Fraser Watts (18) then fell before Ryan Flannigan (15 not out) and Majid Haq (2 not out) held their nerve at the death.

Elsewhere, in other positional play-offs, Kenya beat Italy by 38 runs, Nepal beat Papua New Guinea by six wickets, Hong Kong beat USA by 77 runs and Bermuda beat Uganda by 41 runs.

As a result of today's matches, Netherlands (11th), Scotland (13th) and Canada (14th) have made the ICC Twenty20 rankings for the first time.
