Scotland 156-9 (Mommsen 39, Viljoen 5-23) beat
Namibia 130-8 (van der Westhuizen 39) by 26 runs.
Third Twenty20 Match, Windhoek
Christi Viljoen’s haul of five for 23 was not enough to prevent Scotland from taking an unassailable three-nil lead in the five-match Twenty20 series in Windhoek.
The Scots made 156 for nine after electing to bat, with Calum MacLeod (30 from 19 balls) and Preston Mommsen (39 from 28) the main contributors. Viljoen dispensed with most of the middle-order as Scotland posted the lowest score of the series so far.
Namibia lost captain Craig Williams and Sarel Burger for single figure scores early on in their run chase, but innings of 39 from 27 balls from Louis van der Westhuizen and 30 from 24 balls from Gerrie Snyman took them to the strong position of 81 for three at the halfway stage. Unfortunately for the home side, Majid Haq, Preston Mommsen and Richie Berrington conceded just 51 runs between them off 10 overs and strangled the scoring rate in the second half of the innings as Namibia ended short on 130 for eight.
The final two matches will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
